From the Principal’s Desk – October 2014

October 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We are off to a great start. The students are settled into the school routine. At the Immaculate Conception School we strive to educate the children spiritually, academically, physically and socially.

During the month of October there are many activities scheduled. Please make sure that you keep the monthly calendar handy.

Good luck to our Volleyball Teams. The children are excited to represent ICS and we look forward to seeing them work as a team.

We are collecting Box Tops for Education. Please start to save them and send them to the office.

We will be having a drill of our Honeywell Instant Alert System on Monday, Sept. 15th at 10 a.m. If you have not registered your emergency contact numbers on line, please do so this weekend. If your child’s name is missing, please let us know right away.

OPEN HOUSE—please see enclosed information about Open House on Wed., Sept. 17. For grades 1-8. GRADES 6-8 parents will meet in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. Mrs. Gallotto, Mrs. Buckley and Mr. Lamey will give an overview of their courses, classroom rules and homework requirements. Parents will also be given information about Engrade (a gradebook program that we use for grades 6-8) so parents may keep on top of their child’s homework, quizzes and test scores by entering their child’s code which will display their grades.

Grades 1-5 parents can visit their childs classroom from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Our first fundraiser is our Walk-a-thon. This will be held on Wednesday, October 8 from 9:15-11:30. Children may wear their gym uniform and sneakers for this event. All children will be bussed to Shedd Park and STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 11:30 FROM THE PAVILION AT SHEDD PARK. Any child who will ride with another parent must have a note specifying who they are to go home with. Any child who will be walking home must also have a note giving them permission to do this.

We will have Kids Club on this half day from 11:30-5:00 p.m. We will bus these children back to the school. On early dismissal days, if your child is attending Kids Club YOU MUST PROVIDE A LUNCH FOR THEM, since there is no hot lunch on half days.

We complete the enclosed sheet of what your child is to do that day for dismissal after the walkathon.

The Immaculate Conception Church is having their annual Parish Picnic on Saturday, September 20, from 12-4 p.m. Please see enclosed form for more details.

HOT LUNCH–The new October menu is enclosed. If you are interested in having your child have hot lunch, please return this by Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Please note that on Thursday, Oct. 9 grades 6-8 will not be here for lunch since they will be going to Plymouth Plantation for the day. Please do not order lunch for them at school this day.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CHILDREN’S LUNCH BOX AND CLOTHING WITH NAMES, OR AT LEAST INITIALS SO WE MAY RETURN ITEMS BACK TO YOUR CHILD. THERE IS A LOST AND FOUND TABLE OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN AREA IN THE CAFETERIA IF YOUR CHILD LOST ANYTHING.
